A tragic incident unfolded Monday afternoon in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh, as an under-construction temple dome collapsed, claiming the life of a contractor and injuring five labourers, police reported on Tuesday.
The accident occurred in Mogargaon village, under the Bistan police station jurisdiction. Bistan police station in-charge I S Mujalde revealed that a weak pillar caused the dome collapse, resulting in the fatality and injuries.
Despite the villagers' prompt rescue efforts, the severity of the incident was evident. The District Hospital's civil surgeon reported serious injuries: one labourer's hand was severed and another suffered a broken rib, while three others had minor injuries. Heavy rains and the ensuing spate of the Ruparel river were contributory factors.
