The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has established a committee to tackle open garbage dumping in the Neb Sarai area. The move follows a letter-petition highlighting the public health risk and accidents caused by the improper waste disposal.

A bench led by NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert-member Afroz Ahmad noted that solid waste management regulations prohibit open dumping. The panel will include officials from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The committee is tasked with visiting the site, assessing the situation, and implementing remedial actions within three months. An action report must be submitted to the registrar general.
