Sh. Rajesh Verma, a 1987 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Odisha cadre, has officially assumed the position of Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas. Verma’s appointment, effective today, is for a term of three years or until further orders.
With over 35 years of experience in public administration and governance, Sh. Verma has held numerous significant roles at both the central and state levels. His previous appointments include positions within the President’s Secretariat, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Power, and Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC), as well as in various departments under the Government of Odisha and Rajasthan. His expertise in these roles has been instrumental in addressing air pollution-related challenges.
Before taking up his new post at CAQM, Sh. Verma served as the Secretary to the President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, until his retirement on August 31, 2024.
Sh. Verma succeeds Dr. M.M. Kutty, who successfully completed his tenure as Chairperson of the Commission after three years of leadership.
