Jayakwadi Dam's Discharge Into Godavari River Doubles in Hours

The water discharge from Jayakwadi Dam into the Godavari River increased from 3144 to 6288 cusecs by 7pm on Monday, causing local authorities to issue warnings to nearby villages. Initially, six gates were lifted, but another six were opened later in the evening, affecting the river's water level.

The water discharge from Jayakwadi Dam into the Godavari River reached 6288 cusecs by 7pm on Monday, according to a Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar official.

The discharge rate earlier in the afternoon stood at 3144 cusecs, the official added.

"We had lifted six gates by 6 inches earlier in the day. Later, in the evening, another six gates were lifted, bringing the total number to 12. A warning has been issued to nearby villages due to the rise in the river's water level," he added.
