Devastating Flash Flood in Northern Vietnam Claims Lives and Leaves Dozens Missing
A flash flood in northern Vietnam killed 16 people and left dozens missing as the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi led to severe flooding and landslides. The disaster impacted Lang Nu hamlet in Lao Cai province, sweeping away homes and burying the area in mud and debris. Rescue efforts are ongoing.

A devastating flash flood swept away an entire hamlet in northern Vietnam, killing 16 people and leaving dozens missing. The death toll from typhoon-related flooding has risen to 141 as of Wednesday.
According to Vietnamese state broadcaster VTV, the flash flood descended from a mountain in Lao Cai province on Tuesday, burying Lang Nu hamlet with its 35 families under a mass of mud and debris. Around a dozen people have survived, rescuers report.
Rescue teams have so far recovered 16 bodies and are continuing the search for approximately 40 others. The severe weather conditions were triggered by Typhoon Yagi, which struck with winds up to 149 kph (92 mph) and has left rivers dangerously high. Despite weakening, Yagi's aftermath continues to wreak havoc with relentless downpours.
