A tragic incident unfolded in Babusapalya as an under-construction building collapsed, leading to the loss of five lives, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Rescue teams, including the fire and emergency services, National Disaster Response Force, and State Disaster Response Force, have been intensively working since Tuesday to save those trapped.

The catastrophe struck amid heavy rainfall, further complicating the rescue mission. Authorities report 13 individuals have been rescued so far while efforts continue to find three people potentially still trapped.
