A devastating fire erupted in Bhubaneswar's Unit-I Market Building, severely damaging around 25 garment shops during Diwali celebrations, according to police reports. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as the fire raged through the underground market.
Authorities deployed five fire tenders, which struggled for five hours to bring the situation under control. The inferno, initially sparked in a saree store, quickly spread to adjacent shops, exacerbating the challenge for fire brigade personnel.
The structure's closure on both sides posed further obstacles, complicating firefighting efforts and underscoring the need for improved emergency access protocols in similar market setups.
