A tiger cub, only four months old, was discovered dead, while another was saved in Bhandara district, Maharashtra, officials reported. The forest department was alerted by locals to the presence of a cub carcass in Mandvi village's fields.

Upon arrival, officials recovered the deceased cub and rescued a second one that was found roaming nearby without its mother. It's believed that the cub succumbed to starvation, with no trace of the mother tiger at the scene.

Efforts to locate the cubs' mother have intensified with camera traps set up in the range. Meanwhile, the rescued cub, found weak and in need of medical care, was transferred to Nagpur's Wildlife Training and Research Center for rehabilitation.
