Nagaland Forest Management Project Triumphs at SKOCH Awards

The Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) was honored with the SKOCH Award for its efforts in forest rehabilitation and income generation. Project directors Ango Konyak and Wennyei Konyak attended the award ceremony. NFMP aims to cover 185 villages, enhancing living standards while conserving forests sustainably.

The Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) has been recognized with the prestigious SKOCH Award for its commendable work in rejuvenating forest ecosystems and generating income opportunities for local communities.

During a ceremony at the 100th SKOCH summit, Ango Konyak, Deputy Project Director of NFMP, along with Wennyei Konyak, Resident Commissioner of Nagaland House in New Delhi, received the award, as reported by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of Nagaland.

The NFMP initiative, which spans from 2017 to 2027, aims to rehabilitate jhum areas across 185 villages in 11 districts, managing 79,096 hectares of forest land while forming 555 self-help groups to bolster livelihoods through joint forest management.
