Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's recent assertion that not even divine powers could alleviate Bengaluru's traffic congestion in the coming two to three years has sparked severe criticism from opposition leaders. BJP's R Ashoka has called for Shivakumar to resign if he cannot manage the city's escalating traffic issues.

Speaking at a recent event, Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru's development, acknowledged the complexity of the situation but emphasized ongoing efforts to devise a comprehensive plan. Opposition leaders argue that the Congress government treats Bengaluru like a cash cow, failing to address infrastructure woes.

BJP's B Y Vijayendra expressed disappointment, pointing out the lack of progress despite promises to transform Bengaluru into a city rivaling Singapore. In defense of Shivakumar, state Home Minister G Parameshwara noted the focus on long-term solutions, including underground roads, flyovers, and underpasses to manage traffic effectively.
