Jaypee Group Founder Address Tunnel Collapse at Srisailam

Jaiprakash Gaur, Founder Chairman of Jaypee Group, addressed the partial collapse of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal project, where eight individuals were trapped. While acknowledging the dangers associated with challenging projects, he emphasized ongoing rescue efforts to retrieve trapped workers. He recounted experiencing several such incidents during his career.

Jaiprakash Gaur, the Founder Chairman of Jaypee Group, spoke about the partial collapse of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal project, an incident that trapped eight individuals. Addressing reporters alongside Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Gaur acknowledged that accidents are a known risk in challenging infrastructural works.

The Jaypee Group, through its flagship company Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, had been tasked with the tunnel boring project at Srisailam, a venture fraught with dangers. Gaur, recalling six to seven similar incidents during his lengthy career, remained focused on ongoing rescue operations at the site.

On February 23, the firm communicated to stock exchanges that prior to the collapse, around 60 personnel were present. A supervisory decision to evacuate preempted further casualties, but eight workers, including two officers, remain trapped. Rescue efforts continue, supported by district administration and emergency teams.
