Mark Finney, a senior scientist at the U.S. Forest Service's Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory, remarked on a concerning pattern of January fires in California, which claimed lives and homes. "They ignite in wildland vegetation, fueled by dry, windy conditions, quickly crossing into urban areas," he explained.
