Rajasthan has been gripped by a spell of intense heat, as temperatures soared above normal in various regions, including Barmer and Jalore, where a heatwave was officially recorded on Wednesday, according to a meteorological official.

Radheshyam Sharma, the officer in charge at Jaipur's Meteorological Center, conveyed that light rainfall is anticipated in parts of the Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions over the next 48 hours. This change in weather is likely to bring some respite as temperatures are expected to dip by two to three degrees Celsius.

Barmer marked a peak temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius, which is 7.7 degrees higher than the average norm, while the town of Sangaria recorded the lowest morning temperature at 13.1 degrees Celsius on the same day. Other areas like Jodhpur, Chittorgarh, Sirohi, Dungarpur, and Pali registered temperatures nearing 39 degrees Celsius.
