A recently constructed illegal bridge in Bihar's Purnea district has become the epicenter of controversy, allegedly built by real estate brokers trying to spike land prices. The 60-foot-long bridge on the Kari Koshi River has already drawn attention from local authorities, who have ordered its demolition.
Purnea Municipal Commissioner Kumar Mangalam revealed the bridge was erected without the civic body's consent. In response, a team of officials, accompanied by local police, attempted to survey the site but faced resistance from locals who were seemingly provoked by individuals with vested interests in the construction.
While the identity of those behind this unauthorized project remains unknown, speculation of involvement by the land mafia lingers. The incident follows a similar occurrence in Muzaffarpur, where another bridge was built without connecting roads, raising questions about oversight and regulation in the region.
