The Kulgaon-Badlapur Municipal Council in Maharashtra's Thane district has put forth an extensive proposal to the 16th Finance Commission, aiming to secure funding for substantial infrastructure projects to manage regional growth, an official disclosed on Monday.
The proposal outlines ambitious plans, including the development of the Kalu, Poshir, and Shilar dams, desilting the Ulhas River, and enhancing the metropolitan transport system connecting Thane, Kalyan, and Navi Mumbai. Additionally, it seeks financial support for constructing a multi-speciality hospital and multi-storey slum rehabilitation units, stated Nandkishor Patkar, a representative of the Commission.
Patkar emphasized that with timely financial assistance and implementation, Badlapur has the potential to become Maharashtra's model satellite city. The proposal is currently undergoing review.
