The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has called on the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) to conduct a comprehensive probe into alleged groundwater contamination in Kankardopa village, Behror district. The directive follows a complaint by residents blaming nearby industries for the pollution.

A joint team visited the village in April, collecting water samples from three borewells. The analysis showed iron and nickel levels significantly above permissible limits, posing a health threat to the community. Notable firms in the RIICO Industrial Area, including Apex Tubes and Greenlam Industries, were named in the complaint.

The CPCB has instructed the RSPCB to assess groundwater quality, identify contamination sources, and implement necessary remedies. The board must also maintain vigilance over potential polluting industries and report its findings within 30 days.
