In a dramatic natural spectacle, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara Province erupted on Friday, sending a massive ash column over 10 kilometers into the sky, authorities reported.

The eruption follows a series of volcanic activities in recent months, one of which in July spewed an 18-kilometer ash plume, causing flight disruptions to and from Bali.

The country's volcanology agency advised residents to evacuate a 6-7 kilometer zone from the crater and to remain vigilant for potential mudflows if there is heavy rainfall. Striking images showed volcanic lightning illuminating the dark ash cloud, creating a surreal scene above the active mountain.
