The Meteorological Department has predicted a significant weather change as a well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours. This development is expected to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Andhra Pradesh.

In particular, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall, while South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema could face heavy to very heavy rain. Thunderstorms and strong winds, reaching speeds of up to 50 km per hour, are expected in these areas between August 19 and 22.

The Met Department highlights that the low-pressure system is causing significant rainfall in specific districts, including Alluri Sitarama Raju, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and more, with coastal locations logging substantial rainfall measurements. Rayalaseema, too, faces notable rainfall as this weather system evolves.
