The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has clinched the national award for achieving the top spot in the 'Urban Local Body' category at the 6th National Water Awards 2024. The corporation was recognized for its innovative water management and reuse initiatives, among a competitive field of 751 nationwide submissions.

Accepting the award at a ceremony in New Delhi, NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde received the accolade from President Droupadi Murmu. The citation praised the Navi Mumbai civic body for its comprehensive approach to planned water supply management and reuse initiatives.

Significant achievements contributing to this award included achieving water self-sufficiency, 100 percent sewage processing, innovative reuse methods, and effective leakage control. These initiatives have set a benchmark in local self-governance and water resource management.
