AMC's Bold Push to Reclaim Isanpur Lake Land

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), in collaboration with police, initiated a major demolition drive to remove illegal encroachments at Isanpur lake. Covering 96,000 square metres, 30% was occupied illegally. The operation aims to clear 925 residential structures with pre-notices served to residents. Nearly 80% of occupants relocated successfully.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), together with law enforcement, commenced a significant demolition drive on Monday to dismantle illegal encroachments at Isanpur lake, according to official statements.

Riddhesh Raval, AMC's deputy commissioner, stated that approximately 28,800 square metres of the 96,000 square metres of government land were encroached upon. Prior to the current efforts, 167 commercial properties had already been demolished ahead of Diwali.

Zone 6 Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhagirathsinh Gadhvi reported the deployment of 550 police personnel at the site, with drones aiding in maintaining security. Meetings held a week earlier persuaded most residents to relocate, with 80% having moved with their belongings.
