On Sunday, authorities demolished an under-construction building in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, after it developed destabilizing cracks. The structure, leaning perilously due to issues during basement excavation, was dismantled using JCB machines, as confirmed by officials.
The building's owner vehemently contested the action by the Jaipur Development Authority, accusing them of overstepping and acting without proper legal or technical consultation. He argued that the municipal corporation had approved the building plans for which a significant fee had been paid.
The sudden demolition of the nearly complete multi-storey building has raised questions about jurisdiction and communication between involved governmental bodies, with co-owner Naresh Manwani stating that construction had been progressing for around five months before the incident.
