The Assam government has committed 3,000 bighas (almost 992 acres) of land at the Doloo Tea Estate to the Airports Authority of India for a greenfield airport project. This decision, announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, marks an increase from the initial 2,500 bighas allocated.

Despite resistance and initial confusion over the land acquisition process, state assurances have been made regarding job security for tea estate workers. The government also distributed financial aid to affected families and promised compensation for land acquisitions.

Alongside the airport project, other cabinet decisions include land allotment under Mission Basundhara, a new defense school, and infrastructure investments in partnership with Dassault Systems India, reflecting broader strategic development goals for the region.
