The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) enforced the toughest measures on Saturday under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) due to rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR.
The decision to implement Stage III of GRAP was made earlier in the day as air quality continued to deteriorate dramatically. However, by evening, an emergency meeting was held as the Air Quality Index (AQI) climbed further.
In response, Stage IV actions were enforced, including a complete halt on construction activities and restrictions on diesel vehicles, to combat persistent poor air dispersion caused by unfavorable meteorological conditions.
