Bengaluru, India's IT capital, is grappling with severe traffic congestion, earning it the position of the world's second-most congested city in 2025, according to a report by TomTom. The city recorded an average congestion level of 74.4%, a significant increase from the previous year.

This congestion has dramatically impacted travel times, with drivers in Bengaluru covering just 4.2 km in 15 minutes on average. On peak travel days, such as May 17, congestion levels reached a staggering 183%, reducing travel distance to 2.5 km in the same time frame.

Joining Bengaluru, six other Indian cities were identified among the top 35 globally, illustrating a burgeoning trend of traffic congestion. TomTom's findings are based on extensive, anonymized trip data covering a massive 3.65 trillion kilometers across major urban road networks worldwide.
