Delhi's Metro Expansion: A New Era of Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new Delhi Metro corridors and laid foundations for three more, enhancing city connectivity. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the expansion's role in safe daily travel for women. The Delhi government also launched various welfare initiatives, including Atal canteens and digital services.

In a landmark move for Delhi's urban infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new metro corridors and laid foundation stones for three additional ones, signaling a substantial boost in the capital's connectivity.

Addressing this growth, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the importance of the metro expansion, particularly for women's daily commutes, ensuring safer journeys. Gupta praised the government's focus on welfare initiatives, launching Atal canteens to provide affordable meals, and implementing a new drainage master plan to counter waterlogging and pollution.

Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar underscored the metro's pivotal role in urban transport, recalling its humble beginnings in 2002 under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. With Modi's leadership, Delhi's metro network alone now exceeds 500 km, part of a broader 1,100 km metro network across the nation. The projects, worth approximately Rs 18,300 crore, aim to revolutionize transport in the region.
