In a tragic case, a five-year-old boy in Gujarat's Amreli district was fatally mauled by a lioness, officials reported Wednesday.
The incident took place in Manavav village, Dhari taluka when the lioness attacked the boy, the son of a farm laborer from Madhya Pradesh. Despite bystanders' attempts to rescue the child, he succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
Following the attack, the forest department intervened promptly by organizing three teams. They successfully captured the lioness late Tuesday, ensuring safety in the region known for its rare Asiatic lions.
