Crackdown on Illegal Structures in Navi Mumbai
Minister Madhuri Misal announced in the legislative assembly that action has been taken against 11,890 illegal structures in Navi Mumbai. The operations involved both the civic body and CIDCO, with numerous notices issued and structures demolished to curb land mafia activities. The Minister of State for Urban Development, Madhuri Misal, revealed on Thursday that significant action has been taken against illegal structures in Navi Mumbai. Coordinated efforts between the civic body and CIDCO resulted in targeting 11,890 unauthorized constructions.
In response to a calling attention motion by BJP's Manda Mhatre, Misal provided details of the actions in the legislative assembly. The operation addressed the concerns raised over land mafias conducting illegal constructions on municipal and CIDCO lands. Of the 870 notices served on such constructions, 340 structures and 3,133 huts were dealt with effectively. Furthermore, 126 legal cases have been registered.
Simultaneously, CIDCO's efforts led to 10,160 notices being issued, with 8,417 encroachments demolished, and four cases registered. Mhatre highlighted the need to remove unauthorized political arches, to which Misal assured prompt action within eight days if found illegal.
