BJP-backed candidate Neeraj Kumar clinched the position of deputy mayor in the Ranchi Municipal Corporation elections, emerging triumphant over his opponent, Paramjit Singh, by a margin of 23 votes.

The decisive vote took place at the district collectorate in Ranchi, where councillors from all 53 wards, recently elected in the civic polls, participated. Kumar, representing ward 31, secured 38 votes, while Singh, representing ward 44, garnered 15 votes, according to official sources.

Ranchi's newly elected mayor, Roshni Khalkho, along with all councillors took their oath of office. Khalkho emphasized her commitment to urban development and assured that addressing the city's challenges and improving basic amenities would be her primary focus. The civic elections, held on February 23, concluded with over 63 percent voter turnout.
