The devastating collapse of a four-storey building in Anuppur's Kotma town has tragically claimed two lives, with rescue operations ongoing as emergency teams work diligently to find survivors. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Saturday when 'Aggarwal Lodge' crumbled near a bustling bus stand, causing chaos and concern among local residents.
Authorities reported that in addition to the two fatalities, five individuals sustained injuries, two of whom are in critical condition. Anuppur Superintendent of Police Moti Ur Rahman confirmed the deceased as Hanuman Deen Yadav and Ramkripal Yadav. Efforts are underway to rescue those still trapped, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) leading the charge.
Initial investigations point to nearby construction work as a possible cause of the collapse. State officials, including Madhya Pradesh Forest Minister Dilip Ahirwar, promised a comprehensive probe into the incident, vowing accountability and safety improvements. The immediate priority remains the safe treatment and rescue of affected individuals.
