A sweltering heatwave engulfed Haryana and Punjab on Sunday. Narnaul and Bathinda emerged as the hottest places in both states, with temperatures soaring significantly above seasonal norms. In Haryana, Narnaul experienced an intense high at 44.2 degrees Celsius, as reported by the Meteorological Department.

Other cities in Haryana were not far behind, with Rohtak reaching 43.6 degrees Celsius, Hisar and Karnal hitting 42.2 degrees. Ambala recorded 41.6 degrees, while Bhiwani and Sirsa both registered 43 degrees. Gurugram, meanwhile, saw its maximum temperature at 40.3 degrees Celsius.

In neighboring Punjab, Bathinda sizzled at 43.7 degrees Celsius. Amritsar recorded 39.3 degrees, with Ludhiana and Patiala both seeing highs of 42.4 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh, the joint capital, also endured the scorching temperatures with a maximum of 40.8 degrees Celsius.
