The Delhi government has approved a beautification project for the Ring Road section between Shanti Van and Rajghat intersection, the Public Works Department (PWD) announced on Friday. The initiative includes upgrades in road infrastructure, improved lighting, and horticultural enhancements, targeting the area's national and international importance.
A PWD official highlighted that decorative street lights with LED technology will be installed, and repair works will be undertaken where necessary. The goal is to enhance the appeal of Rajghat, a critical site visited by both dignitaries and tourists. Tenders for these developments have been issued, with a project completion timeline of two months, costing approximately Rs 96 lakh.
This project is the second major effort by the government focused on this VIP zone. Earlier, the PWD unveiled plans for a signal-free corridor to alleviate congestion between Shanti Van and Rajghat using a U-turn traffic management scheme. This approach seeks to reduce traffic signal reliance and improve flow, particularly during peak hours, by restricting certain right turns.
