A tragic incident unfolded in Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang district as a 17-year-old boy was reported missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Yomgo River. The incident took place on a seemingly innocuous picnic near the river, authorities reported.
The teenager, Prateshmesh Baswakar, resided at the ITBP camp in Guminagar, Aalo, and was the son of ITBP personnel Rahul Baswakar. According to police, a group of 10 minors decided to picnic near Bene. Five members of the group approached the riverbank to film a video when Prateshmesh was caught by the forceful river currents.
A massive search operation involving ITBP personnel and local residents has been launched. However, rescue efforts have been challenged by heavy rains causing the Yomgo River to swell. Authorities continue to search, hoping to find the boy as weather conditions remain harsh.
