EU Trade Chief Pressures U.S. for Swift Tariff Restoration
The European Union's trade chief has called on the United States to quickly reinstate tariffs as per last year's trade agreement. This plea comes amid concerns about potential tariff increases on EU cars and trucks by the U.S., as Maros Sefcovic met with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

The European Union's trade chief has made a direct appeal to the United States, urging for the prompt restoration of tariffs outlined in last year's bilateral trade agreement. The European Commission emphasized the significance of reinstating the main terms of this deal before its upcoming one-year anniversary in July.
This development comes after Maros Sefcovic, the EU's trade representative, engaged in discussions with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer during their meeting in Paris on Tuesday. Central to these conversations was President Donald Trump's looming threat to escalate tariffs on EU automobiles and trucks to 25%, a move that embodies one of the EU's primary concerns.
The dialogue between the EU and the U.S. seeks to navigate these tensions and maintain the trade relationship's stability, especially as the potential tariff increase could significantly impact economic exchanges across the Atlantic.
