In a decisive move, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has ordered residents of Yamuna Bazar to vacate their homes within 15 days. The eviction notice targets a residential cluster deemed illegal encroachment on floodplain lands owned by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The notice comes amid annual flood concerns that threaten both life and property within the area. Citing powers under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, DDMA officials have warned that failure to comply will result in a demolition drive.

The action follows a review by Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and aims to ensure robust flood mitigation measures. This low-lying area frequently suffers from waterlogging during monsoons, disrupting daily activities and traffic.
