Delhi Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu has mandated the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to complete the desilting of all its drains before the upcoming monsoon season. Sandhu's directive emphasizes both the quality of work and strict adherence to the completion deadline of June 15, affirming zero tolerance for negligence.
A review of the 'Desilting Action Plan-2026' revealed plans to establish a Central Flood Control Room for real-time monitoring. This initiative aims to control water-logging at eleven identified sites within the DDA's jurisdiction, predominantly in the South and East zones of the capital.
The locations include significant sites such as the Okhla Underpass and the Dwarka Flyover. Sandhu has emphasized that the DDA should set an example for other agencies, ensuring that the work enhances Delhi's global stature as a capital city.
