The Karnataka government, under the direction of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, has introduced the 'Bhoo Guarantee' scheme, a significant reform intended to digitize property records for around 23 lakh property owners in Bengaluru. The initiative also incorporates a one-time settlement option to convert B-Khata properties to A-Khata by paying only two per cent of the guidance value, down from the previous five per cent charge.

The new policies aim to alleviate issues concerning property documentation and minimize corruption, especially targeting revenue pockets and unplanned areas. The scheme promises to deliver digital records directly to the citizen's doorstep, ensuring transparency and accessibility. It also grants several concessions for B-Khata holders and addresses challenges faced by land and homeowners due to planning discrepancies.

In addition to property reforms, the government plans to alleviate Bengaluru's traffic congestion through infrastructure projects like tunnel roads and elevated corridors. The initiative reflects a comprehensive effort to improve urban living conditions while offering lucrative compensation packages for development-related land acquisition.
