A deadly storm accompanied by heavy rains battered several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, resulting in the death of 31 individuals and widespread destruction. Officials reported severe damage in Bhadohi, Budaun, Fatehpur, and Sonbhadra districts.
In the hardest-hit area of Bhadohi, 16 lives were lost due to the tumultuous weather, with uprooted trees and electrical disruptions hampering rescue efforts. Fatehpur witnessed nine deaths, including a tragic wall collapse that killed a woman. Five people, including two young girls, lost their lives in Budaun after being trapped under fallen debris. Sonbhadra reported one fatality when a tree collapsed on a passerby.
Rescue operations were challenged by the adverse conditions, and local authorities, including district magistrates and police, are actively working to provide relief and restore essential services. Despite the difficulties, community support and coordinated efforts offer a ray of hope amidst the devastation.
