Tragic Cheetah Cubs' Demise Near Kuno: Leopard Predation Suspected

In a concerning development, four cheetah cubs were discovered dead near Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities suspect leopard predation as the cause, although confirmation awaits a post-mortem report.

According to Uttam Sharma, director of the Cheetah Project, the attack pattern points towards a leopard. The apprehensions about interspecies conflict voiced earlier seem plausible now.

The incident highlights the challenges faced in India's ongoing efforts to reintroduce cheetahs. Despite setbacks, the program has boosted cheetah numbers at Kuno to 50, with additional imports from various African countries.
