Pedal Power: Uttar Pradesh Champions Eco-Friendly Commutes

Uttar Pradesh senior officials endorse eco-friendly commuting by cycling and walking to offices, aligning with conservation efforts. Director Radha Krishan Dhiman and District Magistrate Ishan Pratap Singh lead by example, promoting sustainable transportation to conserve resources, reduce pollution, and bolster public health across the state.

In a bid to promote eco-friendly commuting, senior officials in Uttar Pradesh have taken up cycling and walking to their offices. This move aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for conservation of petroleum products and reduction of pollution.

At the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, Director Radha Krishan Dhiman cycled from his residence, promoting sustainable transportation. The institute plans to install bicycle stands and encourage faculty, employees, and students to minimize vehicle usage within and around the campus.

In Barabanki, District Magistrate Ishan Pratap Singh walked to the collectorate office, advocating for fuel conservation and environmental protection. The state’s chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, has also mandated a 50% reduction in official convoys, urging the use of public transport and virtual meetings in an austerity drive.
