Tragic End for Injured Elephant in Jharkhand's Saranda Forest
A 13-year-old elephant injured in an IED explosion in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district has died despite a 10-day treatment effort by forest officials and veterinarians. This incident marks the fourth elephant death due to alleged Maoist-triggered IED explosions in the Saranda forest area.

An elephant that had been receiving treatment for 10 days after suffering severe injuries in an IED blast in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district has died. The explosion was purportedly triggered by Maoists, a forest official revealed on Friday.
Despite the dedicated efforts of the forest department personnel and veterinary doctors, the elephant succumbed to its injuries on Thursday. Initially discovered on May 4 lying injured near a drain along the Sasangda-Lebragada part of the Saranda forests, immediate treatment was administered.
This marks the fourth such instance of elephants perishing in alleged Maoist-induced IED explosions within the Saranda forest region, according to officials.
