Negligence Leads to Tragedy in East Delhi Septic Tank Accident

A tragic incident unfolded in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar, where a 55-year-old laborer died after allegedly inhaling toxic gases inside a septic tank. Another worker was sent to the hospital in critical condition, police reported on Monday.

The workers, reportedly without any safety gear or oxygen support, were eight feet deep in a septic tank at the time of the incident. According to authorities, a contractor named Anil had been hired for the cleaning job and engaged two workers, Vinod and Dharmender, for the task.

The local community and the contractor managed to extract them with ropes and hooks. Despite being rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Vinod was declared dead on arrival, while Dharmender's condition remains critical. Preliminary investigations indicate negligence, and authorities are questioning the contractor and the house owner.
