A 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life following an attack by a wild elephant near Gudalur in the Nilgiris district. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening as the boy was returning home from a shop, according to local police reports.
The elephant emerged unexpectedly from nearby bushes, charging at the boy. Despite efforts by villagers, who rushed to aid him after hearing his cries, the boy succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Pandalur. Police have registered a case and are actively investigating, while forest officials are working on measures to mitigate human-animal conflicts in the area.
