Dramatic Cave Rescue in Laos: Five Found Alive, Search Continues

Five people trapped inside a cave in Laos for nearly a week were found alive on Wednesday, according to reports from Thai volunteers participating in the rescue operations. Crews continue their efforts to locate two missing individuals.

"At 4:30 p.m. (0930 GMT), we found five people. We will continue searching for the other two," stated Kengkard Bongkawong, leader of the Thai rescue team. A Thai volunteer, Chakrakrit Taengtung, shared a video showing the five survivors in good spirits.

The group, composed of seven Lao nationals, had initially entered the cave in Xaisomboun province to search for gold, only to be trapped by rain and landslides. Rescuers, including a diver from the notable Thai cave rescue of 2018, are actively involved in the ongoing operation.
