Kaziranga National Park in Assam reported a significant uptick in visitor numbers for the fiscal year 2025-26, with a 15% increase bringing nearly five lakh tourists to the area. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted this growth as part of a broader strategy to bolster Assam's global tourism profile.

Posting on X, Sarma attributed this success to strategic conservation efforts and high-profile visits, which have elevated the park's international standing. Notably, visits by leaders such as India's Prime Minister and the King of Bhutan, along with over 60 diplomatic heads, have enhanced Kaziranga's global appeal.

The conservation-first strategy has led to successes such as halting rhino poaching and fostering wildlife diversity. The park now offers diverse attractions, including boat safaris and trekking, creating new opportunities for local enterprise. Development initiatives, like the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, aim to harmonize wildlife preservation with enhanced connectivity.
