India Enforces Fuel Purchase Restrictions for Commercial Customers
India has imposed a temporary restriction on institutional and commercial customers from buying diesel and motor spirit at retail outlets, directing them to use their own consumer pumps. This rule aims to limit HSD sales to a maximum of 200 liters per day per customer, effective for 90 days.
In a significant regulatory move, India has imposed temporary restrictions on the fuel purchase behaviors of institutional and commercial entities. According to a government notification released Thursday, these entities are barred from purchasing motor spirit and high-speed diesel (HSD) at retail outlets.
The directive instructs them to meet fuel demands via their own consumer pumps. This measure is set for an initial period of up to 90 days, although it may be overturned by subsequent orders.
Further stipulations limit retail dealers to selling a maximum of 200 liters of HSD per day to any single customer or vehicle, and resale of the acquired fuel is strictly prohibited. The policy aims to control fuel distribution effectively.
