Marawi: Strong tornado hits southern Philippines; buildings damaged

A tornado wreaked havoc in Philippines' Marawi City on Monday, destroying several homes and a government building, according to local media. Visuals being on social media platforms show the roof of a building was blown off by strong winds. 

There were no immediate reports of injuries despite the damage.

The tornado comes as the region was recovering from devastating earthquakes that struck the Philippines over the last few days. The tremors have left 21 people dead and also destroyed many buildings, displacing tens of thousands in the Mindanao region, which makes up a third of the Philippines.
