A week after starting right tackle Ja'Wuan James opted out of the season, the Denver Broncos are expected to sign veteran right tackle Demar Dotson, 9News Denver reported Saturday evening. Per the report, a deal is not final, but parameters are "in place," and Dotson is expected to sign this week after passing COVID-19 testing and a physical.

Multiple outlets reported earlier Saturday that Dotson was visiting the Broncos. Dotson, 34, became a free agent in March after his three-year, $16.5 million contracts with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expired. He started 15 games at right tackle in each of the last two seasons and 106 of 130 appearances across 11 years with the Bucs.

James' opt-out left the Broncos with Elijah Wilkinson -- who started 12 games in place of an injured James in 2019 -- as the likely starter at right tackle. The team had hoped to have Wilkinson challenge incumbent Garett Bolles at the left tackle.
