Champion thoroughbred Winx notched a national record 26th win in succession to claim a Group 1 race named in her honor at Royal Randwick in Sydney on Saturday.
The seven-year-old mare, trained by Chris Waller, thundered down the straight to take the lead at the 100-meter mark and went on to win the 1,400m Winx Stakes by a length over Invictus Prince.
Winx's 19th Group 1 victory in the A$500,000 ($366,000) weight-for-age event eclipsed the record held by Black Caviar, who claimed 25 consecutive wins before retiring unbeaten in 2013.
Winx's winning streak dates back to May 2015 and she has claimed over A$19 million in prize money.
