The Chicago White Sox transferred catcher Wellington Castillo to the 10-day disabled list Thursday as he completed his 80-game suspension for a positive drug test.

Castillo became the first White Sox player to be suspended for PEDs since drug testing was implemented in 2004 when he accepted his ban for a positive test for the performance-enhancing substance erythropoietin (EPO) on May 24.

He will now continue his rehab for right shoulder inflammation at Triple-A Charlotte.

In five games with Charlotte in the past week, Castillo is 4-for-16.

Castillo, 31, is hitting .267 with six home runs and 15 RBIs in 33 games with Chicago this season. He joined the White Sox on a two-year, $15 million contract last offseason. The deal includes an $8 million option for 2020.
