Suns add F Anderson in 4-player deal with Rockets

The Phoenix Suns acquired forward Ryan Anderson and rookie guard De'Anthony Melton from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guards Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight, ESPN reported on Thursday.

The Suns are projecting Anderson, 30, to start at power forward. The 21st overall pick in the 2008 draft, has played for four different teams, averaging 12.8 points and 5.4 rebounds a game. Last season, he averaged 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Rockets.

Anderson has two years and $41 million left on his contract.

Christ, the No. 8 pick in the 2016 draft, averaged 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds last season, playing in 72 games for the Suns. The 21-year-old averaged 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds during his rookie campaign when he played in every game and started 75 of them.

Knight, also a No. 8 overall pick, but in the 2001 draft, will be joining his fourth team. The 26-year-old missed last season because of a torn ACL. He still has two years and $30 million left on his contract and should play a backup role to All-Star Chris Paul.

For his career, Knight has averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 382 games. He averaged 11.0 points and 2.4 assists in 2016-17 for the Suns.

The 20-year-old Melton, out of USC, was the 46th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
